What E9010 means

E9010 sits right beside the voltage code but means something different. The cooktop is not complaining about too much or too little power; it is saying it has been wired differently from what its connection diagram requires. Models that can run on several supply arrangements use bridging links and phase wires set in a particular pattern, and a wrong pattern triggers this. It usually shows up right after an installation, a move or a rewiring.

Common causes of E9010

  • Bridging links in the connection block set in the wrong arrangement
  • Phase or neutral wires landed on the wrong terminals
  • Cooktop set up for a different supply configuration than the home actually has
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the cooktop off at its breaker and leave it off. 2. Do not open the connection block or move any wires. 3. If the cooktop was just installed or moved, tell the installer or electrician exactly what the display shows and ask them to compare the connection against the diagram. 4. If it was working before, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Connection blocks carry live supply voltage, so a mistake can cause a shock or damage the cooktop.
  • Moving links around by trial and error can leave several wrong settings that are hard to untangle afterwards.
  • A wiring error caused by the installer is not a repair for the cooktop, so paying for parts would be wasted.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E9010E9010 questions
What separates E9010 from E9000 on the display?

No. E9000 reports a voltage outside the allowed range, while E9010 reports a wiring pattern that does not match the diagram. They appear next to each other in the manual but call for different checks.

Can I just flip the breaker to fix it?

No. Resetting the breaker does not change how the wires are connected. The connection must be corrected by someone qualified who can read the diagram and work safely at the terminal block.

Does the cooktop warranty cover a wiring error?

Typically not, since the cause is the installation. Check your paperwork. If the connection is right and the code remains, we diagnose the cooktop and give a written price, with a 30-day warranty on our work.
