Hillcrest Village is a pocket of about 700 people on the east side of Alvin, small enough to cross in a few minutes on foot. The village dates from the early 1960s, and many kitchens here have been updated piece by piece.
What we find in Hillcrest Village homes, and how it shapes a Bosch repair here.
The village began in the late 1950s as a housing development for Monsanto employees, and its first house was built in 1961 for $24,000. Hillcrest incorporated in 1963 and covers less than half a square mile. Residents attend Alvin ISD schools.
The village posts water line flushing on the first and third Mondays of each month. Flushing can loosen sediment, so avoid running the dishwasher or washer during it, and flush the refrigerator dispenser afterward if the water looks cloudy.
At 43 feet above sea level, Hillcrest sits a little higher than Alvin at 39 feet, and locals say the name comes from that rise. The extra height does not change the climate, though; heat and humidity still push refrigerators and dryers hard every summer.
Homes here have often seen two or three rounds of appliance updates, so we may find a recent Bosch dishwasher beside an older range or a newer refrigerator squeezed into an original cabinet opening.
Hillcrest Village borders Alvin on the west, so we schedule it with Alvin calls, usually for the next day. Streets are short and the village is compact, which makes arrivals easy to predict.
In houses that have been updated gradually, the mismatch between old and new causes many service calls. A newer refrigerator in an old opening may not have the air gap it needs at the top and sides. A dishwasher installed on old plumbing may share a drain with a garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed. These small details explain a surprising number of warm refrigerators and dishwashers that will not drain, and they are worth checking before any parts are ordered.
If the disposal was new or replaced, the knockout plug inside the drain inlet may never have been removed. It is a common installation miss. We check the drain path first, then the pump and filter.
It helps. Flushing stirs up sediment in the lines, so run the dishwasher or washer after the village finishes. Flush the refrigerator water line for a minute afterward.
Usually the next day, on the same route as Alvin, and the village is small enough that arrival windows are easy for us to keep. Our labor warranty runs 30 days from the repair.
Book in about a minute, or call the desk. Same-day windows inside the Loop on most days, next-day across the rest of Houston.
