Stowell is a small census community on Highway 124 between Winnie and High Island, surrounded by rice country. In 1900 it was the largest town in Chambers County; today about 1,700 people live here on country lots and quiet streets.
What we find in Stowell homes, and how it shapes a Bosch repair here.
Stowell began in the mid-1890s as a townsite on the Gulf and Interstate Railway, named for railroad engineer H. C. Stowell. W. W. Gregory built the first homestead in 1894, and the post office opened in 1900. An oilfield found in 1941, with Glenn McCarthy involved, revived the town.
The Trinity Bay Conservation District, based in this part of the county, serves most of east Chambers County and runs a surface water plant in nearby Winnie that treats Neches River water from the Lower Neches Valley Authority.
The 1915 hurricane, freezes and saltwater creeping into the fields cut Stowell's population to 46 by 1920. The land is still low and close to the coast, and humid air plus salt from the Gulf slowly corrode outdoor units, hinges and appliance screws.
Homes in Stowell usually have a freestanding range, a full-size refrigerator and a washer and dryer, and many add a chest freezer. A Bosch dishwasher is often the first upgrade in an older kitchen.
Stowell is about three miles south of I-10 on Highway 124, in the rice country between Winnie and High Island, and we schedule it with Winnie, usually next day or later in the week. Some rural addresses are hard to find; the nearest crossroad or a nearby landmark helps.
Installing a dishwasher in an older kitchen that never had one takes more planning than a simple swap. The opening must be 24 inches wide, there needs to be a hot water line, a drain connection and a dedicated electrical circuit. We check all of that before recommending a model. If any of those pieces is missing, you will know before the appliance is ordered, not after it arrives.
Usually, yes, with some preparation. It needs a 24-inch opening, a hot water supply, a drain and a dedicated circuit. We check what you have and explain what an electrician or plumber may need to add.
Most likely. Salt in the air reaches homes well inland from the beach here. Surface rust on screws and hinges is usually cosmetic, but we check the condenser and wiring connections for corrosion that can affect cooling.
We diagnose the appliance, give you a price, and repair it only after you approve. Stowell visits are grouped with Winnie, so clear directions to rural addresses help, and the labor we do stays covered for 30 days.
