What E:05 means

A wash that ends early while a steady motor noise keeps going at the door is what E:05 looks like from the kitchen. Inside, the control drives a small diverter that steers the spray between the top and bottom arms. The relay that powers it will not release, so the diverter never settles. The machine drains and closes the program out. Bosch points to the power module, since the relay is the weak spot, not the diverter motor.

Common causes of E:05

  • Relay for the water switch stuck closed on the power module (the usual finding)
  • Diverter motor pulling abnormal current and wearing the relay
  • Wiring between the module and the diverter sending a constant signal
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Leave the panels alone; the power module carries live voltage. 2. Start a short program and stand near the door. 3. Note whether the diverter motor hums nonstop instead of clicking from position to position. 4. Write that down and give it to us when you call. It is useful information, and it is where a home check ends.

! Why to stop there
  • The relay and the diverter motor sit on one circuit, and swapping the motor first leaves the real problem in place.
  • Reaching the power module means working around live wiring beside a tub that holds water.
  • A module bought on a guess can cost more than the visit that would have confirmed it.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E:05E:05 questions
Is a dishwasher with E:05 still okay to run?

It can usually finish a cycle, but the early stop leaves dishes poorly cleaned. A relay that stays energized also wears the diverter motor, so waiting tends to turn one repair into two.

Does a new power module come with a warranty?

Parts have their own terms from the supplier. Our workmanship on the installation is covered for 30 days, and you see a written price before we order or install anything.

Can I tell the diverter from the module by ear?

A diverter that never pauses suggests the relay. It is only a clue, though, since the same noise can come from a worn motor, so a technician confirms it with the machine open.
