The oven refuses to warm while the cooling fan blows hard: E104 says the wiring from the cavity temperature probe is shorting to ground. Bosch's own advice puts the probable mechanism ahead of the part, namely wires that are pinched or rubbing against bare metal. The range pauses oven heating and keeps the fan fast until two good readings return.
1. Turn the range's breaker off for two minutes and then back on. 2. Note whether E104 returns immediately or only after the oven has run a while; that distinguishes a constant short from an intermittent one. 3. Report it to us. 4. On a gas model, close the appliance gas valve before anyone moves the range, and leave moving it to us.
Quite possibly. A range shoved hard into its cutout is a classic way to crush the harness, which is why Bosch lists pinched wiring first. Tell us how it was installed if you remember.
Full speed is the planned response when a temperature reading cannot be trusted. The range protects itself and its electronics by cooling down instead of guessing.
It resumes after two good readings. A short that comes and goes can start and stop again, so we would not plan dinner around it. Plan on a repair visit instead.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
