What F30 means

An open circuit where the oven temperature sensor belongs: that is what an older Evolution range reports with F30. The manual gives a benchmark. Measured across the two violet wires at the board's plug at room temperature, a healthy sensor and its wiring show 1080 to 1110 ohms. A normal reading there points at the board; open there but normal at the sensor points to the wiring or the plug.

Common causes of F30

  • Probe element that is open
  • Broken wire or tired plug in the sensor wiring
  • Board unable to read the circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

Nothing here is safe to measure at home, and the manual's warning applies: do not assume the sensor is bad just because the code mentions it. 1. Turn the range's breaker off. 2. Leave the range where it sits. 3. Note when the code first showed and whether the oven heats at all, then tell us.

! Why to stop there
  • The ohm reading has to be taken at the board's plug, behind the fascia.
  • A sensor that is unplugged or has a broken wire costs less than a new probe, and replacing the probe misses it.
  • Replacing the board on a sensor guess is the costliest wrong move.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F30F30 questions
What ohm reading counts as healthy?

For this platform the manual quotes 1080 to 1110 ohms at room temperature, taken at the board's plug across the two violet leads. Any reading outside that band, or no reading at all, is what directs the repair.

Is a new sensor costly?

It ranks among the cheaper range repairs, and that is exactly why the manual insists on measuring first, before anyone spends money on the board. That keeps the bill sensible.

Can I bake meanwhile?

We would not trust it. Without a temperature reading the oven cannot regulate heat, so it may drift hot, run cold or refuse to heat at all.
