Pearl Steel and Home Connect set the WGB246AXUC apart from the rest of the compact family. This is the current 800 Series narrow washer, only 23 1/2 inches across, and its drum has grown to 2.4 cubic feet. Compared with older 2.2 cubic foot compacts, that is about one extra towel per load, which counts in a machine this slim.
A body this narrow almost always ends up stacked or tucked in a closet, and the location drives how the washer ages. Debris reaches the drain pump filter sooner than it would in a big drum, so it wants emptying more often. A closet floor that is out of level also sends vibration into the wall, and the washer sounds worse than it really is.
When we visit a recently installed unit, we look at something more basic than any part. Shipping bolts that were never taken out make the drum shake violently on spin, and taking them out solves the entire complaint.
Check that the transit bolts were removed from the back. If they remain, the drum cannot float on its suspension and the machine bangs hard. It is the most frequent cause on a fresh install.
Behind a small hatch at the lower front. Put a towel and shallow pan down first, turn the filter slowly, and let the water out before removing it. We can show you the routine on a visit.
Not really. The extra capacity is small, and the compact format is what drives maintenance, especially the filter. Keeping it level and clean matters more than the 2.4 cubic foot figure.
