Five burners in a 30 inch top, 41,400 BTU in the 500 Series: that is the NGM5059UC. Fitting five means one is a small low-output burner, and plenty of owners call us to say it is weak when it is working as designed.
Bosch specifies that burner low so that a sauce stays warm and does not scorch. If you try to bring a stockpot to a boil on it, it will seem broken. Use the larger burners for that, and keep the small one for gentle, steady heat.
The real maintenance problems show up elsewhere. Because the burners sit close together, the grates can trap spill residue, and a large boil-over can leave the ignition module clicking persistently. On a visit we check the caps and electrodes, clean away residue, and compare the low burner’s behavior with what it is meant to do.
Probably not. It is built to be low. If its flame looks uneven or yellow, then a blockage is possible. Clean the port when cold, and call us if the flame still looks wrong.
Turn everything off, let it cool, then dry the caps and electrodes thoroughly. Moisture or residue near the electrode keeps the spark going. If it carries on after drying, we will inspect it.
It is not meant for that. The small burner suits sauces and warming, and a big pot heats slowly there. Use a larger burner for boiling, and keep the pan centered on the grate.
