Before replacing a discontinued induction cooktop, measure. The NIT8660UC is the 36 inch 800 Series, glass 37 inches wide, with Home Connect and combinable zones, and Bosch marks it no longer available. The opening for an induction cooktop of this width differs from the one for a gas cooktop.
Even between generations of induction it is not always the same. Taking the existing cutout dimensions before you order decides whether the work is an appliance swap or a countertop job, and the difference in cost can be large.
With age, fans and heatsinks wear and the cooktop shuts down from heat. The glass edge can chip where the top sits in the cutout. At a visit we look at the airflow and the edge, and we can record the dimensions of the opening so you have them if you choose to replace instead.
Measure the existing cutout in both directions and compare it with the new specifications, because induction and gas cutouts differ, and so do generations. That decides whether it is a swap or a countertop job.
It is worth a look. Chips at an edge can spread, especially with heat. Avoid heavy loads near it and let us inspect it. We will say honestly if the glass needs replacing.
If the problem is a wear part such as the fan, repair usually makes sense. If the glass is cracked, replacement may be better. We explain both options in writing.
