Every time the range starts, its main control tries to hand a configuration number to the touch control board behind the fascia. With E044 on the screen, that handoff failed. Bosch blames either a failing touch board or poor connections reaching it, and says the error stays until a reset is done. If the wiring checks out, the manual's final move is replacing the front panel assembly.
1. Turn the breaker off for two minutes; Bosch requires a reset before this message can clear. 2. Switch the breaker on and watch the range start. 3. If E044 flashes up again at every start, the write is truly failing, and the wiring behind the fascia needs inspecting by us. 4. Do not open the panel yourself.
It senses your finger on the glass controls and relays that to the main controller. Bosch gives it its own configuration number, which is why a failed handoff stops the show.
That depends how far startup gets. A range unable to set up its own controls is best not left running while nobody is watching. If it behaves oddly at all, switch it off.
The reset clears the logged error, which Bosch requires. If a poor connection or failing board caused it, the error reappears at the next start, so the physical cause still needs attention.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
