Vision front-loaders have a second set of codes starting with dr, and they come from the inverter that runs the motor instead of the main control. For dr:01, a power switch inside the inverter, an IGBT, has failed in the shorted state. Bosch attributes it to damage in the inverter's control section and prescribes a new inverter.
1. Turn the washer off at the breaker. 2. Leave it off and do not reset it repeatedly. 3. If a breaker tripped when the code appeared, tell us. Bosch's answer for this code is a new inverter, not a repair, and a shorted switch is not something to probe.
Not necessarily. The failed device is in the inverter. We test the motor windings separately so you do not replace parts that are still good.
The inverter is a sealed module with switching devices that are not serviced separately. Replacing the module is the documented fix for this code. Spare parts for it are sold as complete units.
No. The inverter drives every motor movement, including tumbling and spinning, so the machine cannot operate normally while this code is active. Leave it switched off until a technician has checked the inverter and the motor.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
