Er:13 is the drain timeout on Nexxt and Vision front-loaders: the pump kept running past its allowed time and the drum still held water. Bosch's two service documents give three possibilities: a damaged pump, bad pump wiring, or a restriction in the hose. The filter at the lower front is the first stop, since it exists to catch exactly the debris that causes this.
1. Turn the washer off and unplug it. 2. Open the flap at the lower front, lay down towels and set a tray beneath the filter. 3. Unscrew the filter a little at a time so the water drains in stages. 4. Remove coins, buttons and hairpins, rinse the filter and its housing, then screw it back in straight.
Coins, buttons, pins, lint and bits of tissue. Also check that the impeller behind the filter spins freely by turning it with a finger once the machine is unplugged.
It plays the same role as the drain-timeout errors on other Bosch washers. The Er:13 version belongs to the Nexxt and Vision generation. Check which prefix your display uses before comparing notes with other owners.
Twice a year suits most homes. Check it sooner if you wash work clothes with full pockets or pet bedding. The job takes about ten minutes and heads off most drain errors, so it is worth putting on the calendar.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
