At the start of a cycle a Bosch Nexxt washer takes a reference reading with the drum empty, and everything it measures afterward depends on that zero. Er:16 means the calibration did not succeed. Without a zero, water levels become guesswork. Bosch gives the same pair of suspects as for Er:15, the sensor or its wiring.
1. Look into the empty drum through the open door and make sure no water is left. 2. If any remains, run a drain or spin program first. 3. Check that the washer is level by setting a small level on top and adjusting the feet. 4. Start a new cycle. A machine that never drains fully cannot find its zero, so drain problems must be solved first.
It takes a reading with an empty drum and treats it as zero. Later readings are compared against it, so a wrong zero makes every water level off.
It can contribute, since water pools unevenly in a tilted tub. Leveling is a free check and worth doing even if it is not the cause.
Er:15 means the sensor's voltage is invalid. Er:16 means calibration failed. The causes are the same, but Er:16 can also come from water left in the tub.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
