The HGS8045UC wears a black stainless finish. Under it is the 800 Series layout: 30 inches wide, five burners totaling 76,500 BTU, and a 3.6 cu ft oven. But a range takes more punishment than a refrigerator in the same finish. Heat, grease and constant wiping all land on the zone around the oven door handle.
After a few years, that routine can wear the coating at the spot you see most, and it cannot be refinished on site. Grease also finds its way between the panes of the oven door glass, leaving a haze that does not wipe off. Heavy frying also tends to wear out cooktop igniters sooner.
On a visit we look at the igniters first, since those affect cooking, then tell you honestly which cosmetic issues are only cosmetic. The kindest cleaner is lukewarm water, a drop of dish soap and a soft cloth, and that also slows the wear.
Grease and moisture that entered through the door vents over time. Removing it means separating the door, which is a shop-level job. It is cosmetic but makes the food harder to see.
Lukewarm water and a little dish soap on a soft cloth. Harsh degreasers and scouring creams take the coating off black stainless, and the handle area is where it shows first.
Not on site, because the black stainless finish cannot be refinished where the range stands. What we can do is tell you whether a replacement part exists for the worn piece, and quote it in writing.
