You will find the NGM3450UC in condos, secondary kitchens and slim galley layouts. It is Bosch’s compact 300 Series gas cooktop: four sealed burners, 25,700 BTU in all, on a top that measures 23 inches across.
Compact size brings a particular problem, which is concentrated heat. With four burners in a small space, the grates and the cabinets next to them get hotter than a 36 inch cooktop would make them with identical pans. That makes the clearances to adjacent cabinet sides and combustible trim important, and worth respecting.
Years of use leave their mark in predictable places. Large pans pushed across the top can make the grates skate on their rubber feet, and the cap on the highest-output burner can warp. When we visit, we check how much room the cabinets have, how the grates sit, and whether each burner cap is still flat.
Follow the clearances in Bosch's installation instructions, which vary by installation. If the cabinet side feels hot or looks discolored, stop and call us so we can check the gap.
Not always. A distorted cap may not sit flat, and that can make the flame uneven or lift it. If it rocks on the crown, it should be replaced. It is an inexpensive part.
The rubber feet may be worn or sitting unevenly, so heavy pans push the grate. Wipe the feet, check that all of them are in place, and ask us if any are missing or hardened.
