The NGM8058UC is an 800 Series gas cooktop for a 30 inch opening with five sealed burners and 42,700 BTU in total, and where it lives matters. Installed over a cabinet instead of an oven, it usually has a drawer directly underneath.
Bosch specifies a certain depth for the burner box, so that drawer has to be shallow. A standard-depth drawer will either refuse to close or press against the gas connection. This is found far more often at installation than later, but when it surfaces it is worth fixing quickly because the connection is involved.
Beyond that, the front-mounted metal knobs and their bezels take heat from the front burners. The spark module can also start firing intermittently if its earth connection corrodes. On a visit we look under the cooktop first, then check the connection, then test the ignition across several burners to see whether the pattern points to the module.
One shallow enough for the burner box depth Bosch specifies. If a drawer binds or touches the gas connection, stop using it and let us measure, because the connection should never be crowded.
If it comes and goes across all the burners, the shared spark module is a likelier cause than one dirty electrode. A corroded earth connection is one reason. We trace it before replacing parts.
It is usually heat discoloration at the front of the cooktop and not a safety issue. If a bezel is warped or the knob no longer turns smoothly, tell us so we can look.
