Bosch SHE3AR75UC

Most common issues on this model

  1. Filters neglected for years until the sump is packed and draining suffers
  2. Door cables fraying and snapping where they run over the pulley
  3. Scale on the heater, giving long cycles and weak drying

Within Bosch’s US lineup, Ascenta marked the budget tier, and the SHE3AR75UC carried that badge. It is a stainless dishwasher rated 50 dBA with 14 place settings, PureDry drying, a standard silverware basket in place of a third rack, and no Wi-Fi at all. A good share of the older Bosch machines still in daily use are Ascentas.

What owners should know is what lies under the lower price. The tub is the same stainless tub, the filters follow the same design, and the circulation pump carries the same built-in heater as the expensive models. Where Bosch trimmed cost was racks, noise insulation and extras; the washing system itself was left untouched. Looked after properly, an Ascenta can outlast a neglected 800 Series.

After many years we mostly see a sump packed with sludge because the filter was ignored, a door cable that frays and snaps at its pulley, and a heater with scale on it. We start with the filter and sump, then the door cables.

SHE3AR75UCSHE3AR75UC questions
Are Ascenta machines cheaply built inside?

Not where repairs are concerned. The tub, the filters, and the pump-with-heater arrangement are Bosch standard. Less money went into racks, insulation against noise and optional features, but not into the wash system.

The door falls to the floor when I let go. What happened?

One of the door cables has broken or slipped off its pulley. Until it is repaired, stay away from the door with hands and feet, and avoid loading dishes onto the open door. Replacing cable and spring is routine work.

Why do my cycles run long and the dishes dry badly?

Scale on the heater is the usual reason. The water takes longer to warm, and drying suffers with it. We inspect the heater and rinse aid before suggesting anything larger.
