With the SHE68T55UC we are looking at the T run of Bosch’s US numbering. Bosch put the spotlight on its third rack and its RackMatic upper basket, so this was among the first American Bosch dishwashers to come with three racks. The rest of the spec is a stainless front, 15 place settings, a 23 3/4 inch deep tub and AquaStop leak protection. The rails and the notches are the first things we check.
Third racks from this period slide on plain plastic rails without roller bearings. When the rack becomes stiff to pull, the rail is to blame and the rack is fine. Replacing the rail is far less work than replacing the rack.
The other parts we see worn on these are the RackMatic notches, which round off so the upper basket slips down, and the drain pump after a decade of use.
More often the plastic rails it rides on have worn at the front, where you grip and pull it out. Those rails are replaceable, and the job is quick.
The notches in the RackMatic adjusters have rounded off, so they no longer hold their height. The adjusters are replaceable on each side, and new ones bring the height positions back.
Yes, provided it runs freely. New rails cost little compared with the everyday convenience of a dedicated rack for long utensils and serving pieces, and the job takes little time.
