One detail catches buyers out. On Bosch’s listing the SHE878WD5N is an 800 Series stainless machine with a deep tub, but with PureDry condensation drying instead of CrystalDry. It still has the series’ 42 dBA rating, space for 16 place settings and a RackMatic third rack. Not every 800 Series dishwasher has the zeolite system.
An owner who read that the series dries plastics perfectly may be disappointed by a machine never specified that way. Only the specification sheet for the full model number gives the answer, whatever the badge on the door suggests.
Condensation drying leans heavily on rinse aid, so a dispenser that stops working hurts results. Cables for the door spring, on a heavy insulated door, round out what we see at this age.
First find out whether your build ever had CrystalDry. This model dries by condensation, and damp plastics are then normal behavior and not a sign of trouble.
A great deal. It makes water run off dishes instead of beading, and on a condensation-drying machine it is the biggest single influence on how dry the load ends up.
Read the number on the plate inside the door and compare it with Bosch's specification for that exact code. The badge on the front does not settle it.
