Take a 300 Series dishwasher, fit a bar handle and finish it in anti-fingerprint stainless: that is the SHX53DM5N. It runs at 46 dBA, takes 16 place settings and has three racks. Much of its popularity in American kitchens comes from the way the bar handle echoes those on the ranges and refrigerators bought alongside.
For service, it helps to know where this tier sits against the 500. The 300 gives you the third rack and the quiet, but drying is by condensation only, using PureDry, with AquaStop and Home Connect also on board. Nothing opens the door for you and there is no zeolite, so damp plastics come with the design.
The calls we take are about handle bolts that slacken against the inner door panel and about E15 trips after a seep at the lower door seal. The handle fixings and that lower seal get checked first.
If wet plastics bother you, it can be. Stepping up to the 500 brings AutoAir, which cracks the door when the cycle ends. For actual washing, the two tiers are closer than their prices suggest.
Shut the supply valve first. An E15 tells us the float in the base pan has lifted, and while the source of the water is unknown, cutting the supply keeps things safe.
This model dries through condensation and has no door-opening feature. Light plastic holds little heat, so it stays wet. That is the way the system is designed.
