Entry-level in price but not in ambition, the TIU20109 is the 300 Series VeroCafe, Bosch’s first step into countertop bean-to-cup. It makes coffee, espresso, cappuccino, milk foam and latte macchiato. At 9 3/4 inches wide it fits crowded counters, and that narrowness shapes its service history.
A slim body packs the brew unit, grinder, pump and boiler tightly together. A small stone from the bean bag reaches the grinder faster than it would on a wider machine, and a jam follows. The grounds chute has little clearance, so it blocks sooner as well. Those two are the usual reasons these machines need attention.
The drip tray is small too, and every drink includes a rinse that drains into it, so it needs frequent emptying. If the grinder jams, stop using the machine, since forcing it while powered risks the burrs or the motor. We open it up properly, clear the obstruction and inspect the burrs.
Stop using it. The grinder has built-in protection, but a seized one must be opened up carefully. Powering it again may ruin the burrs, or the motor.
The tray is small, and each drink begins and ends with a rinse that runs into it. At this size, daily emptying is simply part of owning one.
Avoid very fine grind settings and very oily beans, and rinse the brew unit regularly. A narrow machine has little room for buildup, so keeping the path clear matters.
