Dryer Vent Cleaning Schedule for Your Bosch Dryer

Lint trapped in the vent run causes slow drying, heat buildup, and fire risk. Use this simple schedule and learn the signs that cannot wait.

Think of the vent as your dryer’s exhaust pipe. When it clogs, hot damp air has nowhere to go, clothes stay wet, and the heat that should leave the house stays in the machine. A routine keeps that from happening.

Every Load

Take out the lint screen and wipe off the fluff. Even a thin, nearly invisible layer cuts airflow, so make this automatic, like closing the door.

Every Few Months

Switch the dryer on and stand outside by the vent hood. The flap should lift fully and stay open while the air blows out. If it barely moves, or lint is stuck around the opening, something is blocking the line farther inside.

Once a Year, or More

The lint screen cannot catch everything. Over time fluff settles along the duct walls and in the bends. A full cleaning of the whole run each year is a good baseline. A long run, many elbows, or heavy laundry loads mean shorter gaps. Regular cleaning is also the best defense against the overheating alert on code E12.

If your dryer sits far from an exterior wall, or the duct runs up through the ceiling, buildup can hide for a long time. Flexible foil ducts also trap lint more readily than smooth metal, so replace a sagging or crushed one rather than cleaning it again.

Signs You Should Not Wait

  • Loads that need a second cycle.
  • A dryer cabinet that feels hotter than usual.
  • A burning or scorched smell.
  • Laundry room humidity that is climbing.

Any one of these means stop using the machine until it is checked. Our dryer repair technicians can inspect the airflow and heat controls, and you can book a visit whenever you notice the warning signs.
