When you press for a drink, you hear the mechanism strain or hum, then the display shows Error 8 and no coffee comes. The brew unit, the part that holds, presses and releases the grounds, has to travel to a set top position at start-up, and it did not arrive there. Something is blocking its path or the drive that moves it is no longer strong enough, so the machine halts to protect the gears.
1. Switch the machine off and unplug it. 2. If your model lets you remove the brew unit by hand, take it out following the manual and look for grounds packed around its track. 3. Rinse it gently under lukewarm water, let it dry, and refit it until it clicks. 4. Never force it; if it will not move, call us.
On models where the manual shows a removable unit, rinsing it is routine upkeep. Do it with the machine unplugged, never use a dishwasher or soap unless the manual says so, and stop if anything resists.
The motor is trying to move the brew unit and meeting resistance, either from packed grounds or worn gears. Stopping early protects the parts, so switch it off rather than retrying again and again.
Not usually. Many cases are jammed grounds or a worn gear, both repairable. We inspect first and quote in writing before work, and our repair carries a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
