Count the door bins on the B24CB80ESS and you reach thirteen, which is the first thing to know. This 800 Series model offers 14.1 cubic feet in all, 9.9 of them for fresh food, and the bins are Bosch’s way of winning back storage that a slim body gives up. It also has a VitaFresh humidity drawer, an ice maker, a water filter and Home Connect with a door-ajar notification.
Because the bins carry so much of the storage and are handled constantly, they are the parts that wear. Their mounting lugs crack under heavy use, and doors overloaded with bottles lean on the hinges of a narrow cabinet. This is good news in a way: a cracked lug is a far cheaper repair than a sealed system problem.
Our visit starts with the bins and hinges, then moves to the filter housing. A cartridge that is not seated squarely, or O-rings that went in dry, will seep water. Reseating cures most of these, and if it keeps seeping we examine the housing itself. Bins can be clipped back only while the lugs are intact.
Only if the lugs are intact. Once the plastic around the mounting has cracked, the bin will keep dropping, and replacing it spares you a mess on the floor.
Usually the cartridge simply is not fully seated, or its O-rings were dry when it went in. Reseating it correctly resolves most cases; if the seepage carries on, we inspect the housing.
They give back storage that the slim body takes away. The trade-off is that the bins take a lot of daily handling, so they are the first parts that tend to need attention.
