On Bosch French door bottom-freezer models, F1 in the diagnostic display points to the freezer compartment sensor. The display may read Lo, meaning the sensor is disconnected, or Hi, meaning it has shorted. The repair manual's test is a resistance reading at connector CN14 on the main board, and if the sensor reads open or shorted the fix is to replace the freezer sensor itself.
1. Open the freezer drawer and make sure nothing keeps it from closing fully. 2. Check that the vents at the back are not blocked by packed food. 3. Rearrange if needed, give it several hours, and note whether F1 stays. A crowded or ajar freezer can mimic a sensor complaint, but a code that stays means a technician is needed.
Lo means the sensor is disconnected, and Hi means it has shorted. Either way the control cannot read the freezer temperature correctly, so it is working blind.
It might, but right now the control is only guessing. Check with a thermometer, and move food to another freezer if it starts to soften.
Typically one visit when we have the sensor with us. We diagnose first, give you a written price, and begin only after you approve it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
