What F3 means

Under F3, the freezer defrost ended only because its fifty-minute limit was reached, not because the coil warmed up to the point that normally stops the cycle. Put plainly, the defrost used its full allowance and ice remained. Why does the defrost stop after fifty minutes?

That is the longest the control allows. If the coil has not reached the end temperature by then, the cycle ends anyway and F3 is set.

Can I defrost the freezer myself?
