A refrigerator that beeps or blinks with dr showing has a door problem. The repair manual calls it a defective R-door switch, and adds the trigger: that door has been sensed open for over an hour. Two situations look identical on the display, a door that really is ajar and a switch that keeps reporting it open even though the door is shut.
1. See whether either French door is propped by an overfull shelf, a tall bottle in the door bin, or a bin not pushed in. 2. Close both doors firmly. 3. Take a dry cloth and wipe the switch plunger up at the top of the door frame. If dr remains, the switch or the door alignment needs a look from us.
The control only flags a door after it has sensed it open that long. That is why the code can appear even when you believed you had shut it.
If the door was open a long time, check the temperature. Throw away perishables that have been above 40F for several hours. Cold air escaping that long is what we are trying to prevent.
Usually, once we have first confirmed it is the switch and not the alignment. You get a written price first, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
