The B11CB50SSS is the 500 Series edition of the tall, narrow freestanding refrigerator Bosch used to make. Discontinued, it measured 78 7/8 inches high on a 23 1/2 inch width, with a freezer drawer at the bottom and an anti-fingerprint stainless finish. It tends to turn up in apartments and small kitchens where a standard cabinet will not fit.
Slimness affects the evaporator in a way worth understanding. Parts are packed nearer to each other than inside a wide cabinet, so an evaporator fan turning slowly, or an air duct half covered by a bag of frozen peas, has a proportionally bigger effect on the whole compartment. A single shelf running warm usually has a simple explanation.
That is why the first thing we do is check that no food is pressed against the rear vents. If airflow is clear, we test the evaporator fan speed and then the door gasket, which hardens at the corners with age. Leaving space around food for air to reach the back and sides sounds trivial, but in a cabinet this slim it is the difference between even cooling and a warm spot.
Inside a slim cabinet the usual cause is an air duct at the back being blocked. Make sure nothing is pushed against the rear vents before you assume a part has died.
Enough that air can get to the vents at the back and on the sides. That sounds minor, yet in a cabinet this slim it decides whether cooling is even or one spot stays warm.
It moves less air, so some areas cool unevenly. Because a narrow cabinet packs everything closely, even a modest drop in fan speed shows up quickly.
