A range showing E029 has usually gone unresponsive, or started behaving oddly, after a power event. The central control board, the module that coordinates the oven and, on many models, the cooktop too, has reported that it is malfunctioning. Because everything else on the range takes its instructions from that board, a failure here can affect heating and safety logic across the whole appliance.
1. Turn the range off at its breaker and wait at least two minutes. 2. Switch it back on and watch the display. 3. If E029 appears right away, the reset has told you what you need to know: the board problem is real. 4. Leave the range off and call us instead of using it.
We recommend it. A board that cannot be trusted may mishandle safety features on the oven and the cooktop alike. If the display is dark or scrambled, that is one more reason to leave it unplugged from use.
Almost always the repair wins, because a board costs a fraction of a new range plus delivery and installation. We quote the price in writing first.
Sometimes. Surge protection at the breaker panel or a whole-home device reduces the chance of board damage, though no device can promise full protection. Plug-in strips are not designed for a range, so that protection belongs at the panel.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
