The freezer twin of the door alarm is dF. According to the repair manual it is a defective F-door switch, set when the control senses that door open for more than one hour. With a bottom-freezer layout the usual cause is a drawer that never got pushed all the way shut, and not a broken part, although a worn switch gives the same code.
1. Pull the freezer drawer fully out. 2. Check the runners and basket for a bag or box that slid behind and blocks the drawer. 3. Push it firmly closed and confirm the gasket touches around the whole edge. If dF returns with the drawer shut, we need to test the switch.
Usually something is preventing it from closing fully. Even a small gap is enough for the control to treat the drawer as open once an hour passes.
If the drawer stayed open for several hours, yes, that can happen. Check that everything is still frozen hard before you refreeze or cook it.
Then the switch or the runners are the likely cause. We test both and give you a written price before any repair. It is worth knowing which one before paying for a part.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
