Bosch Refrigerator E02 Points to the Freezer Temperature Sensor

What E02 means

Frost piling up, ice cream that is too soft, or a freezer that runs colder than you set it may come with E02. This code says the freezer compartment's temperature sensor is bad or no longer talking to the control board. The board then cannot tell how cold the freezer really is, so it may cool too much, too little, or at the wrong times.

Common causes of E02

Freezer sensor that has drifted or failed
Wiring harness to the sensor that is damaged
Ice built up around the sensor housing, disturbing its reading

1. Close and latch the freezer door, checking that no box or bag keeps it from sealing. 2. Look along the gasket for a gap or a stuck spot. 3. Wait an hour or two. A door left slightly ajar can briefly look like a sensor problem, but if E02 stays after the door seals properly, call us.

Chipping ice off the sensor area can break the sensor or cut its wire, adding a part to the bill.
