Fulshear went from a small railroad town of a few hundred people to a city of tens of thousands in about fifteen years. A short historic core still stands at the center, but most residents now live in master-planned neighborhoods built within the last decade.

Churchill Fulshear, one of Stephen F. Austin's colonists, received his land grant in 1824, and the town took shape after the railroad came through in 1888. Incorporated in 1977, Fulshear had about 700 residents around 2008 and 16,856 at the 2020 census. Most housing is recent production construction.
The City of Fulshear supplies water from groundwater wells, and it sits inside the North Fort Bend Water Authority, which is moving the area toward surface water. A recent agreement commits the authority to deliver at least 1.4 million gallons a day to the city.
The Brazos River runs along the area's southern edge, and much of the land around town was open prairie and farmland before the subdivisions arrived. New construction settles over its first years, so we sometimes find a dishwasher or range that has shifted out of level in a fairly new house.
Newer Fulshear kitchens often pair a gas cooktop with a wall oven and leave room for a large refrigerator, a layout that suits Bosch built-in ovens, dishwashers and counter-depth models.
Fulshear is on the western edge of our area, reached by FM 1093, Westpark Tollway and the Grand Parkway. Travel time from central Houston is longer than to the inner suburbs, so we usually schedule Fulshear visits for the next day and group them with other west Fort Bend calls to give you a tighter arrival window.
