Dickinson takes its name from John Dickinson, who received the land grant here in 1824, and Dickinson Bayou still runs through the middle of town. Few places in our area were hit as hard by Harvey, and many Bosch kitchens here date from the rebuild.
What we find in Dickinson homes, and how it shapes a Bosch repair here.
Dickinson sits about 28 miles southeast of Houston and 19 miles northwest of Galveston. It incorporated only in 1977, and the 2020 census found 20,847 residents in 8,249 housing units. Older one-story houses near the bayou stand beside lots that were rebuilt or replaced after 2017.
Most of the greater Dickinson area gets water from Galveston County WCID No. 1, created in 1938 as a fresh water supply district. It switched from wells to surface water in 1983 and buys treated Brazos River water from the Gulf Coast Water Authority's Mackey plant in Texas City.
Harvey flooded roughly 90 percent of Dickinson in 2017, and about half the city was destroyed by the water. Appliances that stood in water and were dried out rather than replaced can corrode quietly, so a dishwasher or washer that fails a few years later may trace back to that week.
Rebuilt kitchens here often received a full new package at once, frequently a Bosch dishwasher with a matching range and a French-door refrigerator. Older homes that escaped the water still tend to have a single dishwasher and a top-load washer.
We cover Dickinson from I-45 and Highway 3, with a next-day window on most bookings. FM 517 is the main east-west road through town, and it helps if you tell us which side of the bayou you are on; it helps us pick the crossing.
A lot of appliances here were bought within a few months of each other in 2017 and 2018, and they are now reaching the age when the first wear parts give out: drain pumps, door latches, ice maker valves. When one machine in that batch starts acting up, it is worth looking at the others too. If your dishwasher is beeping or showing an error, write down the exact code before you turn the power off; it tells us which parts to bring.
Floodwater leaves silt and salt inside motors, wiring and the control board, and corrosion keeps working after the unit dries. We open it up, check connections and the pump, and tell you plainly whether the machine is worth keeping.
Not all at once, but appliances bought together do age together. During a visit for one repair we can look over the others and point out worn seals or hoses before they leak.
The model and serial number from the label inside the door or on the frame, the exact text on the display, and what the machine was doing when it stopped. With that, we usually know which part to load on the van.
Book in about a minute, or call the desk. Same-day windows inside the Loop on most days, next-day across the rest of Houston.
