Partway through a roast, the oven quits heating and E122 comes up. The meat probe is sending back a number above anything the control will tolerate, so the elements stay off until the probe is unplugged. The usual story is simple: the probe was plugged in but left sitting on a rack or in the cavity, not pushed into the meat. In open air it climbs to oven temperature within minutes and trips the limit.
1. Put on an oven glove, pull the probe plug from its socket and take the probe out of the cavity. 2. Run a regular bake with no probe attached. 3. If the oven heats as it should, then the probe, or the way it was being used, is the explanation and you may well be done.
Possibly. If it was plugged in but not inserted into the meat, it heats to oven temperature and trips this code. Always push the tip into the thickest part of the food.
Yes. Once the probe is unplugged the oven heats normally. An instant-read thermometer works fine for checking doneness while the probe stays out of service.
If E122 returns even with the probe inserted correctly in food, the element or lead has likely failed. We confirm that and give a written price before replacing it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
