Hilshire Village is the smallest of the Memorial villages, a pocket of fewer than 300 homes between Wirt Road and Bingle just north of I-10. Its streets are short and shaded, and many houses back onto Spring Branch Creek.

Frank Bruess bought about 30 acres here in the 1940s, and houses went up in the early 1950s. The city incorporated in April 1955, which kept it out of Houston as the surrounding land was annexed. Today it covers about a quarter square mile.
Hilshire Village runs its own water and sewer utility, billed every two months through the city's contract operator, Inframark. If cloudy glasses or a slow fill are part of the problem, a look at the city's latest water quality report is a sensible first step.
Spring Branch Creek runs behind many backyards, and parts of the village sit in a flood plain. The city council has pushed to keep open ditches rather than piping them, arguing that ditches carry heavy rain better. New homes are often built on raised foundations.
Original ranch houses usually have a single Bosch dishwasher and a freestanding range. Newer raised homes more often carry a matched Bosch kitchen package with a counter-depth refrigerator and an upstairs laundry pair.
Hilshire Village is bounded roughly by Westview, Wirt Road, Bingle and the Katy Freeway frontage road. It is a short hop for our technicians coming off I-10, and with so few streets, we are rarely more than a minute from your door once inside the village. Homes that back onto the creek have more moisture in the air and soil around them. A laundry room on an outside wall can collect condensation, and a dryer vent run low near the ground may let damp air back in. When we work on a dryer here, we check the vent termination for a working flap and clear lint from the hood so moist air goes out and stays out.
Indirectly. Higher humidity and occasional standing water can corrode metal parts near the floor and dampen a low dryer vent. We look for rust on frames and connectors during every visit near the creek.
